2008 Horse of the Year Awards Rules

Pleasure Trail Division for 2008

The winner of this division will be the horse with the most hours logged in training, in the ring, in lessons and on the trail.  Time spent grooming or at any kind of competition does not count and if the horse has won any other FWF grand champion award in that year, he/she is not eligible to win this one.   In order to qualify for this new award, you will need to keep a log sheet with the amount of time spent training (on the ground or in the saddle) and all mounted /driving time doing any activity other than competition.  This will encourage those who don't show to spend time with their horses and give them something to strive for as well!

FLYING W FARMS 2008 HORSE OF THE YEAR AWARDS

Flying W Farms proudly offers its very own "Horse of the Year" awards program.  This unique
program was created to promote and reward the efforts of Flying W Farms horses competing in
literally EVERY discipline imaginable!  All ages and genders compete against each other
annually for these FANTASTIC awards.

The winner in each of the categories listed below will be awarded the distinguished
"FLYING W FARMS HORSE OF THE YEAR" title for that division along with a BEAUTIFUL RIBBON and $100 cash!  But that's not all!  The second place winner will receive the "Reserve Champion" title and the next eight best scores in each division will be awarded the "Top Ten" title along with a GORGEOUS 30" RIBBON!  As an added bonus, all "Horse of the Year" winners, including "Reserve Champion" and "Top Ten" winners will be listed on the Flying W Farms web site along with a photo for the entire year for everyone to see!

"Horse of the Year" Rules:

1.  Horse MUST be bred by Flying W Farms
2.  Horse MUST be shown with the prefix "Flying W Farms," or "Flying W's" at all
competitions.  ("FWF" prefix is NOT acceptable!)
3.  (New for 2008)  Only USEF recognized competitions will count towards "Horse of the Year"
awards.  Local/schooling shows now have a separate "Schooling Show Awards" program.
4.  A minimum of 3 scores (dressage), 3 placings (hunter, jumper, halter, in-hand, etc.) and/or 3
COMPLETED hunter trials (eventing) in the same division is required in order to be eligible
     for a year-end award.
5.  Scores must be recorded on the "Point Reporting Form" and the fully completed form must be
submitted in hard copy to Jenna Hill, 6285 Ravenna Rd., Concord, Ohio  44077  by Nov.
30th, 2008.  Both recognized and schooling shows can be recorded on the same form.
6.  The 2008 award year runs from Dec. 1, 2007 - Nov. 30, 2008.
7.  Horses are NOT eligible to win at a level lower than the highest level that they have been
awarded Horse of the Year.  For example, if your horse won the First Level Dressage Horse of
the Year Award in 2006, then he/she could not win at Training Level in 2007, but is still
eligible to win at First Level or above.  This rule gives more horses the opportunity to win
these cherished awards and encourages those who show to keep moving up the levels.
8.  There is a limit of two years for winning the same award. For example, if your horse
won First Level Horse of the Year in 2005 and 2006, he/she will not be eligible to win
anymore Horse of the Year awards at First Level..
9.  Each horse is eligible to win ONLY ONE Horse of the Year award per year.  However, Flying W Farms

wants to encourage owners to continue to compete in more than one discipline, so
Reserve Champion and Top Ten awards will be awarded to horses winning in several
     disciplines and levels.

2008 Schooling Show Awards
These awards are created for those who show at the local level.  The rules and awards are identical to the "Horse of the Year" program, except that the top placing in each division will be given the title of "Grand Champion" along with a beautiful ribbon, no prize money will be awarded.  These horses and owners will also appear on the web site.

Pleasure Trail Award
This is a special award created for those horses who are ridden or driven strictly for pleasure.
Horses competing in the show ring are NOT eligible for this award.  Completed Pleasure Trail
Log Sheets are required for each horse.  Record all time spent riding, driving, in lessons and
training time.  Remember that grooming time does NOT count and horses competing in the show ring

are not eligible for this award.  The winner is the horse with the most time logged.
Reserve Champion and Top Ten ribbons will also be awarded
